KRYPTIC

TEAMS

For this game, there are two teams, blue and yellow with 2 robots each and compete against each other. Robots will switch partners for each heat according to the schedule provided by the CRC. Partnerships are randomly assigned.

FIELD

The playing field is a single level with a sloped hill with three gutters in the middle. The starting zones are on opposite ends of the field and are clearly designated by team color. The field is also divided into three zones by the red bumpers. Robots are only allowed to move on the half of the field that they started on with the exception of the red zone that’s accessible for both teams. There is one small and one big target that’s located on each half of the playing field.

GAME PIECES

There are a total of 42 game pieces which are foam dodgeballs of various colours. These colours have no effect on the scoring and will all be available at the start of each heat.

SCORING

There are multiple ways to score points. Hitting the small target is worth 60 points per GP from the lower deck and 30 points per GP from the upper deck. Each tall target is worth 120 points per GP. At the end of the heat, the GP’s on the ground are worth points depending on where they are (Image below shows the scoring in each zone).

GAME

The heats are 5 minutes. When the time is up, all robots must stop moving. There are 30 GP’s on the playing field in the 3 gutters at centerfield. Robots can start with 3 GP’s preloaded or the remaining GP’s will be left on that robot’s starting zone.
